Funding & Eligibilty
To be eligible for NDIS funding, you must be living in Australia with Australian residency, and you must be aged between 0 and 64. At least one of the following statements must also be true for you to be eligible:
- Residency: You must be an Australian citizen, a permanent resident, or hold a Protected Special Category Visa.
- Age: You need to be under 65 years of age when applying for the NDIS.
- Disability: You must have a permanent disability that significantly affects your ability to participate in everyday activities. This disability must be likely to be lifelong and require support from the NDIS.
- Early Intervention Requirements: If you’re under 7 years old, you may be eligible for early intervention supports if you have a developmental delay or a disability likely to be permanent.
- Impact on Daily Life: The disability should impact your ability to participate in daily life activities, education, employment, social situations, or community activities.
There are three different ways to manage your NDIS funding:
• Self-management—The NDIA provides you with funding so you can directly access the supports you need.
• Plan-managed funding—You will have a Plan Manager who pays your service providers on your behalf, helps you keep track of funds, and handles financial reporting for you.
• NDIA-managed funding—The NDIA directly pays for service providers on your behalf.
